The experience

A story told between two fires

Two fires are lit on the ridge at golden hour, facing 180 degrees of tea hills. You arrive with the light still gold and a warm drink in hand, and take your seat — there’s a wool throw at every one.

Once the light turns gold, a storyteller steps between the fires. One African tale, told in two parts, with an interval for a second drink. No stage, no screen, no microphone — a voice, two fires and the hills going dark. Dorothy Gatwiri and Thuita Mwangi are our storytellers in residence.

After a day at the desk

Paukwa is also an evening add-on to the Co-working Day — stay on after work, then ride the evening van home.
